I'm Douglas, a wedding and event photographer based in Mill Valley, California.
I have been a professional photographer since 2016 and in 2020, I made a decision to dedicate myself full-time to photography. Photography is unique in that it so inextricably combines the creation of art with technology. I love the collaborative nature of weddings and how they are all unique to the couple, the venue, and even the season all blend together to make an unforgettable story.
Originally from the Midwest, I now call Mill Valley, California my home, and deeply love the proximity to wildlife, forests, and the ocean.
I'm often asked about my favorite thing to photograph other than weddings, and my answer is simply: Everything. I love having a camera in my hand.
My philosophy on photography is to pay careful attention; to the light, to the surroundings, and to the story that wants to be told. You always have to leave space for the story to tell itself.
When I'm not taking photos, I am usually running the trails in Marin, going to see a play, reading, or checking out Saturn in my telescope.
